The cutting speed of the cemented carbide tool is usually higher than that of the high speed steel tool, which makes TiAlN the preferred coating for the cemented carbide tool. The cemented carbide bit and the end mill are usually made of this PVDTiAlN coated stone coating The tool becomes a good choice for cutting non-ferrous and non-metallic materials.

The hard film on the surface of the tool has the following requirements: ① high hardness, good wear resistance; ② chemical stability, not with the workpiece material chemical reaction; ③ heat and oxidation resistance, low friction coefficient, and the substrate attached to a solid and so on. A single coating material is difficult to achieve all of the above technical requirements.
